On an February 2, morning a disaster happened to a retirement committee. Tornadoes ripped through the community. At least 19 residents were killed in the storm. Some residents had only tiles of their roof off others had their homes destroyed. There was a church building that could with stand up to 150 mile an hour winds but it got destroyed. Officials say that this storm was worst that the 2004 hurricane.
1. What do you think might have caused the tornadoes?

1. I think that high gusts of wind at different temperatures could have caused the tornadoes.
My question: Why do you think that some houses only lost roof tiles and others close by were severely damaged?
1) I think some houses lost roof tiles and others close by were severly damaged because maybe they weren't build so well.
My question:
Do you think many more tornadoes will occur around this area again?
1. No I dont think that there will be any more tornadoes in this area.
My question: Do you think that there were any more bodies that were not found in the diasaster area?
1.I think that if everyone isn't accounted for some bodies might have been carried by the wind and found in other places.
My Question: Do you think that the residents had any warning about this disaster?
1. Yes. There are Weather watchers around you area who tell residents if there is a storm headed their way.
My question: What should Weather Watchers do differently to inform residents quicker?
1- I don't think that there is too much to do because tornadoes happen so quickly and plus, they happened in the middle of the night.
My Question: Do you think putting sirens around towns would help during hurricans or tornadoes to awake residents in the middle of the night?
Sirens would help wake residents and warn them when to evacuate the area and go a shelter.
Question: Would more tornado and hurricane drills help people get use to the procedure.
1) Yes, I think tornado drills would help. I think they would be prepared.
My question: Do you think the retirement home should be in charge of the deaths of the residents?
1. No, I dont think that the retirement homes should be incharge of the deaths because anyone could have died in that situation.
My question- Do you think there could be a tornado in Floida?
No, i dont think that there will be a tornado because the land isnt flat enough. If we did have a tornado it would be terrible.
My question. If there was a tornado in south florida, what where would you go.
1. If there was a tornado in South Florida, I would go to a building that looks to be the most protective like the first floor in a hospital.
My question:
How do you think some of the people died.
1. I think some people could've died by having their furniture or building parts collapsing on them.
My Question: Why would officials say that the storm was worse than the 2004 hurricane?
1. I think it was worse than the 2004 storms because there were many people killed and multiple tornadoes were involved causing mass destruction.
What would you do to help the people that were affected?
1. I would donate money and supplies that these people are in need of to help them get through their tough times.
How do you think the people in this area reacted once the storm hit? (after affect of the storm)
1. I think some houses were more severly damaged than others because maybe they built their houses with less sturdy material, for example some people cement roof tiles down while others use glue.
My question:
Which disaster scares you most, a hurricane, a tornado, or earthquake, and why?
