Phones, passengers, fatigue put teen drivers at risk

BLOOMINGTON, Illinois (AP) -- Studies find that many distractions other than drinking and driving cause fatal car accidents every year which increase the risk for teenage drivers."We need to go beyond the message of drinking and driving and also talk about the message of distractions," said Dr.Flaura Winston a cheif investigator in the study. Teenagers drive with many obstacles ranging from cell phones to passengers that add on to the thousands of fatal car crashes that occure every year. Even though 90 percent of teenagers say they never drive after drinking or doing drugs many in-car distractions are the No.1 reason of tragic accidents involving teens.

1.Do you think that there should be stricter driving requirements for teens?Explain.

2.What are some of the distractions that interfere with teens driving safely?

I think that this article is very important to understand that the teens that are driving drunk will get onto accidents.
1. There should be more strict requirments such as raising the driving age to 17. Maybe kids will be more mature.
2. The distractions with teens is cellphones, music drinking, smoking and other kids.

1. There should be stricter driving requierments because teens this young who start to drive don't take driving seriously and don't think about the risk they take every time they sit behind the wheel.

2. Some of the distractions teens face could be talking on a cell phone, blasting the radio, and turning around to talk to someone in the back seat.

1. Yes. Teens need to face facts that driving isn't just something cool to do. You need to understand that driving a machine that is deadly can really lead to someone's death.

2. Cell Phones, music and Friends.

2- Some distractions that interfere with teens driving safely is music because kids search through the radio trying to find songs to listen to.

1. I think that there should not be stricter driving requirements for teens, however their parents should not let teenagers stay out too late and should make sure they experienced enough to drive safely.

2. Some distractions teens may have while driving is: driving while talking on their phone or to the passengers, and listening to loud distracting music.

1. Yes, I think that teens under the age of 17 should be required to drive with a parent or older adult. That might help teens become more mature at a quicker rate.
2. The distractions to tenns to me are smoking, drinking, definitly cellphones, and to some kids loud music.

I think this is a very important article, because it is teeneger's lives they are dealing with.
1) I think there should be more restrictive requirements such as the driving age, which I would probably increase up to 18 years old, when kids are more adults and mature now.
2) Some distractions during car drinving are cellphones, drinks... I think PDA's are very distractive too since you have to be looking at them and making sure you are going the right way.

This article is a serious issue today.
1. I think that the driving age should be raised to 17 because that is a more responsible age and when you kind of start off on your own.
2. Cellphones, passangers, loud music, and loud friends can distract teenagers at the wheel.
