The moon's fate

The moon is the object that causes Earth's high and low tides. However many years probably more tan one billion years it is predicted that the moon may cause problems to Earth and possibly destroy it. The moon, as time is progressing is moving further away and also closer to Earth. While in New moon the moon comes slightly closer to Earth and in a full moon it moves slightly farther from Earth. If the Moon is predicted to continue this to a point when it is a new moon it will be 11,470 miles above the Earth.

1. What will happen if the Moon is 11,470 miles above Earth?

1. I think that the tides will be greatly effected and mess up the patterns of the ocean or even destroy earth.

2. My question:
What do you think will happen if the oppisite happens and the moon becomes to close to earth?

1. I think that if the moon moves closer it will cause flooding around the world.

My question- What will happen if the tides on the shores are ruined?

1. I think that if the tides are ruined it will cause many problems and cause severe flooding.

My Question : What do you think will happen a billion years from now?

1. I think what will happen in a billion years from know that the sun will be getting closer every day and eventualy the sun will burn up the Earth and the other planest.
My Question: What do you think will happen to all the gases in the atmosphere?

1. I think the gases in the atmosphere will weaken or disapear completely.

My question is:
If the moon moves farther from the earth, will the tides become higher or lower?

1. The result of the moon moving farther away from the Earth, I think, will cause a low tide because the gravity will have a lessened affect on the water.

My Question: If Earth takes 47 days to spin around, what will happen to how long a year would be?

1. If the earth took 47 days to spin around then the years will be greatly extended and months will be longer.

My question:
What do you think will happen to Earth if the moon moves too far from Earth's gravitaional pull?

1. I think that if the moon moves too far away from earths gravitational pull, the moon would no longer orbit around earth, and the moon would no longer affect Earth's tides.

My question: What do you think will happen to the moon when the sun becomes a "Red Giant"?

1. I believe that the streagth of the sun will destroy the moon maybe by melting it slowly but I don't know for sure.

My Question - How do you think the Earth will react when or if the moon begins melting?

1- I think that the impact on sea levels would be a danger because there would could possibly be flooding.

My Question: Do you think there are any ways humans can do to avoid problems with the moon?

1. I don't think there is anything you can do while on Earth but maybe astronauts can go to the moon and try to find a solution.

2.My Question: Today how many miles away is the moon from Earth?

2. I think humans can avoid problems with the moon by just letting nature take its course and if the moon wants to sway back and forth, then so be it.

My Question: What are some alternatives to this situation of the moon moving further and closer to Earth?

Me and Amanda both answered Caitlyn's question.

1. I think that if the moon becomes too close to the earth, nighttime will be too bright and we won't be able to determine which times are night and which times are day. Nocturnal animals will probably have a mixed up schedule also.

My Question:
What do you think would happen if the Earth started spinning on its axis at a faster pace? Would it effect gravity, and how so?

1) I think if the earth started spinning faster than it would affect the moon. I also think it will affect gravity. If its motion is faster it should hav an affect on gravity.

My question- What do you think if the moon is too far away from earth?

1)I think that if the moon is too far away from earth, Earth will not be able to get the moon's light and we probably wouldn't see it at night.
My question:
Do you think the moon's destruction will lead to Earth's destruction, why?
