Current Event

In Buffalo, Missouri, a very severe winter storm recently changed the lives of many. There were three different shelters throughout Missouri. By Saturday, the town lost all of it's power. Approximately 450,000 homes and businesses still remain without power. 50 people were injured from the storm, throughout nine different states. About 92,000 homes and businesses also remain without electricity, and the power may not be restored until next week. Unfortunetly, this will be a storm to remember.

1. We all experienced the severe events of hurricane Wilma. What do you think is a major difference between a snow storm and a hurricane?

2. What is one thing you could do to contribute to the harsh effects of this storm?

I heard about this in the news and its horrible to see what happend to all those people.

1. The major difference between a snowstorm and a hurricane is that in a snowstorm you could be trpped in your house for weeks without power. In a hurricane you could be without power for just a couple of days.
2. One thing i could do is to donate to the power companies so they could get the power up quickly.

1. Snowstorms are worse because you are more likely to lose power and get trapped in your house.
2. One thing that I could do to contribute to the harsh effects of this storm is to send in canned food to a food drive or the Red Cross.

1. the difference is that a hurricane can take your home or yourlife and wipe out a massive piece of land. A snowstorm can leave you trapped without power and can injure you.
2. I can start a fund-raiser to collect money or food for the suffering people.

1- The difference between a hurricane and a snow storm is that hurricane can majorly destroy your home when a blizzard just surrounds your house with snow and can freeze all your pipes so you can't get water.

2- One thing we all could do to contribute to this storm is to find some sort of fund and donate money.

1. I think the major difference between a snow storm and a hurricane is that a snow storm happens with snow and that it might have a bigger impact in a city than a hurricane. A hurricane involves heavy winds and rain.
2. One thing I could do is donate to electric companies and give food and supplies to families that need them.

1. One major difference between a hurricane and a snowstorm would be that durring a snowstorm it is ice cold and if you lose power that could be dangerous without a heater. Durring a hurricane it is usualy warm and humid.

2. One thing I could do is send needed items to those affected by the storm such as money, food, and clothing.

Wow I remember when we lost power that was bad but I only lost it for a couple of days.

1. I think that both storms do a lot of damage but there difference is that after a snowstorm you could be trapped for a while.

2. I could donate money or send items that people might need.

1. The difference from a hurricane and a snow blizzard is that a hurricane can have high winds that blow everything away and they can flood your home, a snowstorm can trap you in your house for many days without water or heat. If you outside when there is a snowstorm you can freeze to death. Also if all the snow melts it could cause floods if it snowed over five or six feet.

2. A way I can contribute to the storm is donating hot foods like soup to keep them work and tools to keep them warm like a battery powered heater and stove to cook the food.

1. I think the mahor difference between a SNOW storm and a hurricane is that a snow storm creates havoc using snow, and a hurricane is just strong winds and rain.

2. One thing I could do to contribute to the homes that were wrecked is help to clean up the areas that were ravaged by the storm to try and able shelter to be rebuilt faster.

1. The major difference is that a hurricane could be either a wind storm or a rain storm and the weather doesn't seem to change much. In a snow storm the weather remains cold and dreary. But both out comes are terriable for the citizens living in thosae areas.

2. One think I could do to contribute to those who are in need by the storm is donate money so it could help them pay insuurance or other bills or repairs.

I don't actually remember hearing about this.

1. A snowstorm, in my opinion, is less deadly than a hurricane. The winds and the lightning of the hurricane might affect you differently than just snow. An example of that would be that you can get electricuted by down power lines in water, but it might not happen in snow.

2. To help the vitcoms is send canned food and winter clothes so they do not freeze or starve to death.

This story is so sad :(

1.) The major difference between a snow storm and a hurricane is that a snow storm involves snow, and a hurricane involves rain.

2.) One thing that i would do to contribute is donate money to a family whos house or car was messed up in the storm. I would also help with the clean up of the town where it happened.

If that happened to me, I would be very scared.
1)I think the difference between a snowstorm and a hurricane is that a snowstorm is probably more dangerous than a hurricane. A hurricanee can be a low category and in major cases you can escape from it; but once the snowstorm is here, you are trapped in your house, and you could even be without food and power.
2) One thing I guess everyone could do, is to give those people food and donate money, because even if we all gave was $10 each person, it would make a huge difference.

1. A snow storm and a hurricane are very much alike. For example, they both can cause huge distruction. But they are also very different because a snow storm deals with heavy snow. [Obviously] A hurricane has heavy rain and wind really powerful.

2. I could give money to shelters in the areas where the storm occured.

1. The diffrence between a hurricane and a snowstorm is you can get stuck inside from a snowstorm because the door wont open, Hurricanes cause damage around the whole state and you can lose power

2.One thing i would do to help is to not use power all night

1)I think the difference between a storm and a hurricane is that hurricanes are usually hot and rainy. Meanwhile snow storms are cold and snowy.

2)Something i could contribute would be money to the companies and houses without powers or i could donate some of my old clothes for the kids who lost their clothes.

1. I think the major diffrence between a snowstorm and a hurricane is , in a snowstorm it involves snow , rain and cold weather. In a hurricane it involves wind and I think that is the big difference.

2. Something that I could to to contribute to what happend is to make donations to organizations to help the power and everything to get back up to normal.

1.The major difference between a snow storm and a hurricane is , a snow storm covers a huge area in snow which can last for long preiods of time and gets alot of peolpe stuck freezing in their homes.A hurricane is more of a violent type of natrual disasters, they rip things like roofs and patios off where they originally belonged.

2.One thing I could do to contribute to the harsh effects of a snow storm is donate supplies like food to redcross to help.
